The person who firstly introduced rubber into our daily lives (in the 1940s) was Johnson Goodyear, also known as the inventor of rubber.

Rubber is a flexible material. It softens when heated, becomes sticky at 180°C, and melts completely at 220°C. After an acchievement of this temperature, the distillation of the rubber begins. The distillate is a runny, oily liquid, called "rubber oil". This oil is used as the solvent of the rubber.
